for external/topical use purposes only and is not intended to replace
prescribed medication or professional medical advice or to diagnose any type of
health condition.
Never ingest essential oils and remember to dilute them with a suitable carrier oil such as olive oil or coconut oil. This is due to the fact that organic and pure essential oils are highly concentrated liquids and direct use of essential oils on the skin can cause allergic reactions. Caution should be taken if you are a breastfeeding or pregnant mother. Keep out of reach of children.
Speak with your healthcare practitioner before selecting an essential oil that is appropriate for your health situation and unique individual constitution.

Product Description & Production
Process
Agarwood Kutai Oil
is an artisanal essential oil sourced from the heartwood of Aquilaria
malaccensis trees grown in the tropical forests of East Kalimantan. The
trees undergo manual inoculation at around 10 years old, triggering the
natural formation of oleoresin in response to microbial agents like Fusarium
and Phialophora. After a resin maturation period of 1.5–2 years, the
wood is sustainably harvested and steam distilled to yield a complex, aromatic
essential oil traditionally celebrated in Middle Eastern perfumery as Oud.
Chemical Composition & Therapeutic
Potential
This oil contains
over 70 bioactive molecules, chiefly sesquiterpenoids and chromone derivatives.
Notable compounds include agarospirol, jinkoh‑ol, α‑ and β‑agarofurans,
aquillochin (a coumarinolignan), kusenol, selinene, and dihydroagarofuran—all
contributing to its signature scent and therapeutic profile.
Evidence-Based Benefits:
⚠️
Note: These are based on in vitro and animal studies; human trials are
needed for confirmation.
Origin & Sustainability Practices
A. malaccensis is native to Southeast Asia and listed
under CITES Appendix II as a vulnerable species. DDistillers supports
environmental stewardship through selective harvesting, replanting programs,
and community-based agroforestry. The trees flourish in lowland to
mid-elevation rainforests (up to 750 m) and can reach 50 m in height. Resin
only forms when trees experience stress or microbial exposure—underscoring the
rarity and exclusivity of the oil.
Cultural & Historical Value
The aromatic trade
of agarwood dates back to ancient Sriwijaya civilization located at Barus,
Sumatra. Indigenous Batak traders transported agarwood along the Asahan
River to Arab and Persian merchants. Known locally by names such as Karas,
Depu, Hau Halim, Kayu Alim, and Kayu Kareh, and globally as Oud,
Agarwood, Eaglewood, Aloeswood, this oil has been highly prized in Hindu,
Buddhist, Islamic, and Christian traditions for centuries as incense, perfume,
and spiritual tonic.
